Objectifs
Bruxelles Formation métiers urbains and Hack Your Future Belgium offer a 16-week training in Java back-en development, supported by Agoria, the federation of Belgian companies in the Tech sector. The training is conducted in English to facilitate the professional integration of individuals who do not yet master French or Dutch.
This training aims to:
- Acquire the necessary skills to become a Back-end Developer in Java.
- Learn how to design, implement, and secure server-side applications.
- Integrate databases, RESTful APIs, and authentication mechanisms.
- Gain experience in testing, deployment, and cloud hosting.
- Prepare for roles such as Back-end Developer, Full-Stack Developer (with further training), or Software Engineer.
Programme
This training is only given in English
The program is structured as follows:
- Java Basics & Object-Oriented Programming (variables, control flow, classes, inheritance, polymorphism).
- Data Structures & Collections (Lists, Maps, Sets, Generics).
- File I/O, Exceptions, and Multithreading.
- Design Principles & Patterns (SOLID, Singleton, Factory, Strategy, Observer).
- Databases & JPA (entity relationships, CRUD operations).
- Spring Boot Framework (dependency injection, REST API development, services, repositories).
- Security (Spring Security, JWT authentication, role-based access control).
- Testing (unit and integration testing with JUnit & MockMvc).
- Deployment & CI/CD (Maven packaging, GitHub Actions, Docker, Heroku/AWS).
- Final Project: A Book Management System (secure API with database integration, authentication, testing, deployment, and documentation)
The training combines technical lessons, project-based learning, and soft-skills workshops (job search techniques, networking, and professional coaching).
Conditions
Etre chercheur d'emploi inoccupé.
Avoir au moins 18 ans
Participants must be registered with ACTIRIS as a job seeker (chercheur d’emploi inoccupé).
Important note: Job seekers residing outside of Brussels must also submit a request for Interregional Mobility to the FOREM or VDAB service of their region before the day of the selections.
- English: B1 level in the CEFR.
- Complete a technical assignment.
- Successfully pass a motivation interview focusing on your professional project.

The training is conducted in a hybrid mode, alternating between online classes and in-person sessions at the Epitech Brussels premises located at Montgomery (avenue de Tervuren 142, 1150 Brussels).
